When a person sings and the key is off (out-of-tune), auto-tune shifts the pitch to the nearest correct tone. It can also distort the human voice so that the out-of-tune part (especially the highest and lowest pitches) is not obvious in the whole performance.
Step 7. Open your Audacity and record your audio or import a prerecorded sound to auto-tune. Select the part of the audio you want to correct and click the Effect Menu. Look for the GVST GSnap plugin and the commands for adjustment will appear.
AT1 is intended to correct the pitch of a voice singing (slightly) out of tune.It works by resampling and looping the signal and does not include formant correction,so it should be used to correct small errors only and not to really transpose a song.AT1 can probably be used on some instruments as well, but is primarily designed to cover the vocal range.
Hovering the mouse over label below a control displays a tooltip with information.Operation ModesAT1 re-tunes the input signal to the note closest in the configured scale. The scale consists of up to 12 notes (1 octave), which are set and indicated on keyboardon the left side. By default all 12 are enabled.
Just like most other pitch correction plugins, this one has a really simple workflow where you put the plugin first in the chain, and then you select a scale and the notes you want it to snap to. In addition to this, this plugin can show you the notes that are being hit by the performer and how out of tune they are, making it simple for you to detect what needs to be corrected.

Some of our buying choices, particularly the mobile entries, also focus on other more out-there effects. Some of the other vocal processes you will come across in these include formant shifting, where you might turn a male voice into a female (or vice versa); harmonising or doubling, where a single voice is doubled or more to produce a group of voices singing together; and vocoding, where a standard voice becomes a more robotic voice not dissimilar to the extreme pitch and time settings in automatic tuning software.
for a free effect this is a must-have. it corrects pitch even better than the "real" autotune, the only downside is that it theirfore distorts the sample quite a lot, but if you go for a robotic voice anyway it doesn't matter, does it? i especially love how easy it is to get to new, wide and unique voices with the formant knobs, transposing and panning. singing with this plugin feels like a bob ross painting. the ultra hard pitchshifting is also useful if you wanna make your voice sound like an eguitar. just use this plugin on its maxed out settings and put any huge guitar amp VST behind it and you feel like a skillful guitar solo.
Putting it on a guitar track I was able to get a real interesting flange type sound, that made the guitar part really stand out from the other tracks. Just as well, plugging it in on an already split vocal track - and suddenly I had a country sounding duet with an auto tuned male and a country chick! Without doing anything I was impressed, with a little equalization and compression my wife was asking who the chick was I was singing with :).
